The pigment

Flamingos eat the algae. Salmon eat the algae. So do we.

Astaxanthin is what makes flamingos pink, salmon orange, koi vivid, autumn leaves on fire. It is the red carotenoid that the microalgae Haematococcus pluvialis makes to survive intense sunlight, drought and stress. Nature's own sunscreen.

Your skin has its own defence: a barrier of ceramides that holds moisture in and stress out. It thins as we age. Salnae brings the two together: the red pigment of life, met by the rice ceramides and hyaluronic acid that rebuild the barrier it lives in.
